Tomorrow’s Yesterday
« on: October 13, 2007, 08:35:35 PM » by paradox
I've learned that there are very few people who will truly accept us for who we are. So many of us dance around who that is so we can maintain relationships, dignity and self-esteem. We even censor ourselves so others won't have to do it for us. They will, for reasons I can't explain (or maybe that is just another tangent). My only explanation is that people will try to control their own little world by trying to control the people around them. It takes a lot of balls to say or write what we are really thinking and share it with the world. People always seem to want to shut us up for some reason I don't quite understand, even when what we're saying is only in writing and they don't have to read it. I have people who are supposed to be close to me who want to censor my expressions and opinons. I've written this before, and I'll write again that I believe we are on this earth to express ourselves in a myriad of ways. If we censor that expression, if we hide it from the world, then what the hell are we even doing here on this earth? It seems to me, if there is any meaning to this life, it is to express our unique person and perspective with others, to contribute our talents and abilities in an effort to progress mankind to a better way of understanding and living. Living any other way is pure death... Live a little each day; express yourself in your own way, That's all I have to say For tomorrow's yesterday.

I wish I could truly express what I feel or think, unfortunately we censor ourselves for reasons far beyond just trying to maintain dignity or self-esteem but because what we are feeling really isn't something we want to share. Maybe, the people in our lives don't deserve to know who we really are but only see the facade as they aren't special enough themselves to know our hearts? I know every time I've given a part of my heart to someone, it's been returned to me in worse shape and to my detriment. Sharing my true self has never turned out well.
