  Tri-Monthly Writing Contest #6 - 2008 January 25 to April 24
« on: January 25, 2008, 05:02:09 PM » by Miraenda
Hola A&E members,

I am reviving this contest, although I am going to change the format just a bit. The contest begins today (2008 January 25) and will last until April 24 of this self-same year for accepting entries. There will be just me judging unless I can find another 1-2 souls to agree. The judging will occur from April 25 to April 29 and the decision on the winner will be announced on April 30. Too bad I didn't get this started last month so that I could make it April 1 smile

The Rules:
1. The writing entry must be your own original work without any copyrighted material.
2. The writing entry must be a poem of any number of words or lines as you so desire.
3. Once you've submitted the writing entry, you may not make changes and resubmit it.
4. You may only enter the contest 1 time.
5. You agree to allow your submitted entry to be displayed onto my forum at the end of the contest for as long as I want it to be here.  You do not forego copyright on your writing entry and can submit it elsewhere, but even if it is published, my right to display your entry for all perpetuity is a required component in this contest.
6. You must be a member of this forum to enter the contest.

Failure to abide or agree to any of these rules will disqualify the participant.  By submitting an entry, you are accepting and agreeing to these rules.

Manner to submit entry:
The entry will be sent to miraenda@gmail.com as a .txt or .doc attachment or in the body of the email itself by demarcating Beginning of entry and End of entry around the submission along with your PayPal email address and forum member name in that email provided for payment of the prize should you win it.  I will publish valid entries on the forum at the end of the contest.

Timeline:
The contest runs from 2008 January 25 to 2008 April 24.  Entries must be submitted to me via email by 11:00PM Central time (-5 GMT) on 2008 April 25 for consideration.  The winner will be announced 2008 April 30 and the $63 prize awarded to the winner that day via PayPal.

Prize:
The prize will be a monetary award of $63 USD paid using PayPal to the winner of this contest.  You do not have another method of payment to receive this award.  If you do not have a PayPal email setup to receive funds, you would need to visit www.paypal.com to look into having one setup for you.  I will not be held responsible for invalid email addresses or misspelled ones being provided to me for the award, so please ensure you have it listed correctly in your entry email with the writing sample.

If there are any additions or corrections to the above, I will put it as notes at the end of this initial post, so please check this post.  If you have questions, please list them beneath this post and I will do my best to attempt to answer them.

Good luck

Sounds interesting.  I would join but I have no Paypal account.  Sad

I may submit something, though just for the fun of it.

You could join and if you win, donate the proceeds to someone who has a PayPal account? I really am fine whoever you use for the PayPal (it doesn't have to be your own). Possibly, a parent or relative has PayPal and you could have it sent to that person.

I'm doing fine right now other than disliking the winter/cold weather. Glad to see you back and good luck with the entry smile

One of the other members, hippsta, has agreed to help judge, so I won't be the only judge. If anyone else would like to be a judge, please let me know, although I think 2 judges is fine. I'd rather have people entering so I have a decent number of entries to keep the contest going. I have 3 entries this time, which is good this early into the contest smile

I intend to enter but you know what they say about good intentions.

I have only one thing I could submit and it's not really done so the plan is to get back to it before the deadline or otherwise use it as it is. I may only remember that on the 25th though.

Hi, Miraenda,

Just wondered if the winner has been chosen for this contest. It said 4/30 would be the day it would be announced. If not, no problem. I look forward to knowing who it is and keeping my fingers crossed. Hope all is well.

Hi susie,

No worries on asking as it was announced but in a separate thread:

http://anythingeverything.org/index.php/topic,432.msg2376.html#new

You did do a good job, but with 3 entries and 2 judges, the winner ended up being someone else this time. I hope you'll submit another entry, though, for the next one, which will be happening shortly.

Again, good job on your entry.
