  Tri-Monthly Writing Contest
« on: March 31, 2005, 05:20:01 AM » by Miraenda
Hi participants, judges and spectators:

The Tri-Monthly Writing Contest (henceforth called TWC) will commence tomorrow and end on June 14, 2005 for entry submissions.  The judging will take place for 2 weeks by a panel of judges (currently myself, Leigh and Ron the forum mods, and Garvey) and the winner will be announced on June 30, 2005.  The next contest would then begin on July 1, 2005 following the same type of date format.

The rules are the following:

1. The writing entry must be your own original work without any copyrighted material.
2. The writing entry can be any genre or style (story, poem, etc.) and a minimum of 500 words with a maximum of 2500 words.
3. Once you've submitted the writing entry, you may not make changes and resubmit it.
4. You may only enter the contest 1 time.
5. You agree to allow your submitted entry to be displayed onto my forum at the end of the contest for as long as I want it to be here.  You do not forego copyright on your writing entry and can submit it elsewhere, but even if it is published, my right to display your entry for all perpetuity is a required component in this contest.
6. You must be a member of this forum to enter the contest.

Failure to abide or agree to any of these rules will disqualify the participant.  By submitting an entry, you are accepting and agreeing to these rules.

Manner to submit entry:

The entry will be sent to miraenda@gmail.com as a .txt attachment or in the body of the email itself by demarcating Beginning of entry and End of entry around the submission along with your PayPal email address in that email provided for payment of the prize should you win it.  I will publish valid entries on the forum at the end of the contest.  Please ensure you provide your forum username with the email so that I can verify you are a forum member.

Timeline

The contest runs from April 1, 2005 to June 14, 2005.  Entries must be submitted to me via email by 11:00PM Central time (-6 GMT) on June 14, 2005.  The winner will be announced June 30, 2005 and prize awarded to the winner that day via PayPal.

Prize:

The prize will be a monetary award of $72 USD paid using PayPal only to the winner of this contest.  You do not have another method of payment to receive this award.  If you do not have a PayPal email setup to receive funds, you would need to visit www.paypal.com to look into having one setup for you.  I will not be held responsible for invalid email addresses or misspelled ones being provided to me for the award, so please ensure you have it listed correctly in your entry email with the writing sample.

If there are any additions or corrections to the above, I will put it as notes at the end of this initial post, so please check this post.  If you have questions, please list them beneath this post and I will do my best to attempt to answer them.

Have Fun with the Contest (sorry for all the rules, but gotta have some) big grin

Edit: I neglected to put 1 rule above and have added it as #6, you must be a member of this forum to enter.

Is it possible to make this a sticky somehow, or in some other way to make it easy to find info on the contest?  Maybe a separate forum?

That is a good idea Ron.  I'll see if I can make it a sticky...why I didn't to begin with I'm not sure lol

Edit: Hmm, I made it a sticky but I don't really see any difference. I did think about creating a new forum called Contests in the Interlude & Finale section but decided not to do it to cut down on # of forums.  Do you think there should be a forum called Contests there just for this? It is a bit important enough to maybe have its own section.

Moved the discussion to http://anythingeverything.org/index.php/topic,58.msg555.html#msg555 as that is the new section for the TWC.  Locked this thread so any questions/comments would be posted in 1 location.

2007 December News

We've added 2 new members this month (NathanK and hippsta) to our ranks after closed registrations for 10 months. Please encourage other writers to join so we have more works to view (and more active discussions smile).

- 31 Dec 2007, I'll be attending a NYE party at the Mezzanine in San Francisco to see Blaqk Audio, which should be a real treat.
